| 3. Find out what conditions your
clergy, church, religious institution requires for you
to get married. Some churches/religions require marriage
courses, proof of some commitment to their faith and
adherence to their ceremony rules as a condition of
marrying you. Some religious institutions forbid photography
during the ceremony. Their clergy are required to enforce
these rules.
4. We suggest that you
meet/interview your potential wedding officiant before
contracting him/her to officiate your wedding (by giving
a deposit). Fees for officiants can vary widely, so
determine exactly what you are getting for your money.
5. See how much “control” your officiant
allows you over your ceremony. Does your officiant insist
on a religious ceremony? Are you getting a “fixed
text” wedding – that is “word for
word” style ceremony that is read at every couple?
6. How much choice are you given in putting together
your ceremony? Will your officiant help with advice
in writing your own vows? In giving you suggestions
for readings and ceremony ideas? |
